I’ve become obsessed with apple chips. Think crunchy like potato chips but much healthier and sweeter. I found the recipe last week and this is my fourth time making them. It takes about 3 hours to make these and my family eats all of them in an hour. These are so easy to make so you can’t go wrong when making them! Just be patient and experiment with time and temperature-there are no exact measurements or times.
This is what works for me. When picking your apples, the sweeter, the better. I used Granny Smith and Pink Lady apples. I use three apples and three baking pans. Slice the apples as thinly as you can, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, place them on a silicone baking mat, and put them in the oven at 225 degrees Fahrenheit. After 1-1.5 hours, flip them and pop them back in for another hour or so. Once done, leave them in the oven to cool- it’ll make them extra crunchy.
The thinner you slice the apples, the crunchier they will be. Also, if you don’t have silicone baking mats and have to resort to parchment paper and aluminum foil, it’s okay. Just move the apples around every half hour or so to prevent sticking. Finally, do not overlap the apples or else they won’t bake properly and get crunchy.
Let me know how your apple chips turn out if you make them!
